Hector Cardenas' versitility as a DJ is second to none, applying his own unique and highly sophisticated stlye to all aspects of dance, ranging from future house and funky tekno to hip-house mash-ups and jazzy grooves. Starting out as a club DJ in 1989, Hector eventually joined forces with founding co-partners Kevon Banks and Jerry Sladewski in 1992 to form FTT just as the burgeoning underground rave scene was exploding along California's sunny shores. Together, Mikey and Gelly both launched the self-coined "HAWT Movement" in February of 2006 in Los Angeles, California. Best friends united by their relentless passion for music, they set out to change the way that people looked at house music, parties, and just having fun in general. "At first we just wanted to start a record label in order to showcase our own music, meanwhile having the opportunity to sign our favorite artists that we admire", says Mikey. "Along with that came the party, and that's what really put us on the map and opened up doors to gradually build relationships that will forever change our lives".

In May of 2006, HAWT Afterhours was born. On every 1st and 3rd Friday since the inception, HAWT's underground parties have not only showcased the DJ talent of various quality acts from all over the world, such as Inland Knights, Justin Long, Johnny Fiasco and many more, but they have also displayed the talent of so many of the great DJ's in the local scene. "We always looked back to the beginnning, before we ever had a gig and knew that this was an important step, something that people needed and appreciated", says Gelly. "Overall, the main focus has always been on bringing back that old school house vibe at parties, bringing friends together with music, and just breaking boundaries and having FUN", according to Mikey. In the beginning there was Jack...or so the story goes.
Jack "Freedom" Monforte has been spinning for over two decades now.
An underground fixture since the late eighties, he joined forces with two other promoters
in the early nineties to create Sweet Sundays.
Shortly thereafter he moved to Alaska, where he saw an opportunity to bring the underground techno scene to virgin territory, today Jack is considered one of the pioneers of the Alaskan electronic scene.
Moving back to Los Angeles in the mid nineties saw Jack earn a residency at
Club Diva where he opened up for Richard Vission and live acts like,
Rozalla, Donna Blakely, Alyus, Bad Boy Bill,etc...
In the early part of 2001 Jack along with partner K.C. Santana created Soulplanet Sessions.
a place where musicians,Djs and dancers could come together and create magic.
Soulplanet Sessions has hosted the likes of Marlon D,Master Kev, Tony Powell, Wayne Lyons and numerous other DJs.
Apart from being a producer/ DJ, his other passion is Graffiti art and photography.
Jack's appearances have included...Dirty Dirty House Club, The Clinic, Faith after-hours, Inspiration, Therapy (FTWK), Movin, Union Square Lounge (NYC), The End Up (San Francisco) and countless one offs.

We print all sorts of items from tshirts (access to lots of brands and styles including organic, fashion fit, burn out and more) to stickers, hoodies, golf shirts, flyers, biz cards, postcards, promo and souvenir posters.

We are all music fans so good energy goes into everything we do. Our prices are very competitive and we charge no set up fees. Turnaround time is 2 to 5 days. We have done promotion work for some shows at Cervantes and do a lot of work with MoBoogie.net. We relocated from Charlotte/Boone NC this time last year. I would really like to begin working with more bands, so if any of yall ever need any creative work done, let me know. I can get you a price quote fast. I got offerred a last minute gig Tonight @ Air Conditioned Lounge in Santa Monica (2819 Pico Blvd., Santa Monica, CA, 90405 310.829.3700) I should be starting around 9 pm and I'd really dig it if you could come by! It's free, so bring as many
people as you like (I get a bar percentage, so think about your alky buddies...)

Since this is a lounge and not a club, I will be sporting more of the "Velvet" side of my sound, not the "Rough & Ready" dancefloor assault (i.e., no "Doom's Night" but possibly some Bugz In The Attic.)

The Forbidden City...

The cold night air was crisp with a breath of winter and a hint of change as a court mystic paced the halls of a palace outside of Bejing. It was the twilight hours of the Ming Dynasty and the only comfort for the mystic's troubled mind came in the form of sputtering torches that cast ghostly shadows across the stones of the hall. Who was this ninja council? What did they hope to gain from opposing the imperial regime? Who were they to think they could effect change? Lost in his brooding, he almost failed to notice... a movement... a slight shift in the shadows. His eyes darted to the source of the movement just in time to see an arrow flew past his head to implant itself in the wall. Startled at first, he realized that the arrow had intentionally missed and carried with it a message. Curiosity overcame fear as he removed the parchment and snapped it open. His concern was valid. The Ninja Council had moved on Bejing and taken over the Imperial Palace known as The Forbidden City. Drawing on their vast resources, the Ninjas planned to gather the finest musical mystics to open a portal to the future.
To someplace called Los Angeles.
To someplace called Chinatown.

Ninja Skillz really wanted to throw a post-election party in an effort to try to get out the vote today (offering a free drink w/ ballot stubs). Democracy should be fun! We're doing a whole politically themed event with DJs as political candidates and patriotic campaign decor. It's going to be all tag-team DJ sets (debates) and we have grabbed some of our DJ friends that aren't usually heard in our circles (to give a voice to the underrepresented!)

Anyway, vote for Mark Zabala, watch my 3-way debate, and take dirty politican photos with me =D

Oh yeah, and if you come, we'll sign you up for the Spundae guestlist because our ninjas Saynt and Sammy Bliss are playing there the following day. Come early and carpool because Hollywood on friday nights can be difficult.

On this week's show, I will be airing an interview with Desyn, along with Disc 1 of his recent release for the highly-respected Balance series. Desyn is truly a master and you will not regret making arrangements in your schedule to hear this mix.

Desyn is one of the very few DJ's who has caught the ear of some of the world's best-known DJ's, with Deep Dish, Sander K and Danny Howells nominating him as their "future DJ Hero" in DJ Magazine's Top 100 poll. With many established DJ's and newcomer DJ's leaning towards a particular style and musical range, many are pigeonholed into a genre of music. Desyn, however, has managed to establish his own sound that crosses boundaries and makes it difficult to categorize.

Desyn incorporates house classics, deep, tech, funky and progressive into his sets. "I listen and take inspiration from almost any type of music. Many tracks I find may not be instantly playable, so I use technology such as Pro Tools and Ableton Live to re-edit or update them so they will then fit into my vision of how the music will sound on the dance floor."

Desyn's love of house music began in 1989. Born and raised in London, he was exposed to the acid house movement at the age of 16 and was a regular at the legendary spiral tribe and traveller raves around the UK at that time. His DJ career all began with a mix CD that he took a considerable amount of time and love preparing. He sent the CD to 100 people who requested it from posts that he put on various Internet message boards. After a few months, the CD had been passed all around the world and ended up in the laps of various promoters and DJ's. The mix made such an impression that Desyn, although completely unknown at the time, began to receive international gig requests. From his first international gigs in Helsinki and Tampara in 2000, to his chaotic schedule today, it was all sparked from that one mix CD.

Hello everyone. My name is Mike Brown, orginator of the Promoters Heaven Tribe.

When I first created this tribe I wasn't sure of anyway to connect people soldily through the use of a internet. Well that has changed. With the creation of site like Myspace, Friendster these have become monsterous sites for networking with individuals and groups around the world. But something was still lacking. Which is why I returned back this TRIBE.

I created a FRAPPR MAP ( www.frappr.com/promotersunited ) which will help provide locations links for all promoters. Please share this map with other promoters and event companies. With any luck this map will assist bands djs and performer in finding other promoters that would be willing to assist in booking and tours.

Yeah yeah yeah, birds of paradise, reborn and whatnot. Now imagine it's Space Island working with the concept. More spacey. More arty. More sexy. And plenty of fire.

We've got a brand new ship to build (check out the 2005 Space Wench, coming this August to a playa near you), as well as pay for. So in typical Space Island fashion, we're staging an event to help offset the costs.

We'll start things off with live jazz and an art show featuring the workd of Darrah Danielle and Hans Haveron at 9PM. Enter to win original art from Darrah.

We'll also have aerial and fire performances, Spoken word by Middle Poet and more.

...I decided to give back the name to the old tribe. With that said, as a long time friend to a lot of people who are involved in doing events here in LA as well as being an organizers of events myself I felt the best thing to do with this tribe is to turn it into a place where promoters can come and talk about their issues/problems/successes in promoting their events in Southern California. Anyone is still welcomed to join but I really would like to focus this tribe to issues concerning the organization of parties/clubs in Hollywood, especially if you are involved in doing things on the underground tip. For those who only care about finding out when the next party is happening you can always go back to the orgininal party tribe and sign up. Again, I'm the new moderator on that tribe and I'll make sure that the party keeps going.
